For information on the latest community version of TinyMCE, see the [TinyMCE Changelog](../changelog/). ## Overview TinyMCE 8.9.1 was released for TinyMCE Enterprise and Tiny Cloud on Wednesday, September 9 th, 2026. These release notes provide an overview of the changes for TinyMCE 8.9.1, including: - [Accompanying Premium plugin changes](#accompanying-premium-plugin-changes) ## Accompanying Premium plugin changes The following premium plugin updates were released alongside TinyMCE 8.9.1. ### AI Assistant The TinyMCE 8.9.1 release includes an accompanying release of the **AI Assistant** premium plugin. **AI Assistant** includes the following fix. #### The `body_class` and `body_id` options were not applied to the AI Assistant preview iframe body, and the `mce-content-body` class was missing Previously, the **AI Assistant** plugin did not apply the [`body_class`](../add-css-options/#body_class) and [`body_id`](../add-css-options/#body_id) options to the preview iframe body element, and omitted the `mce-content-body` class, so the preview did not render content consistently with the editor content. In TinyMCE 8.9.1, the **AI Assistant** plugin applies both options to the preview body element, and always applies the `mce-content-body` class alongside any class set through `body_class`. For information on the **AI Assistant** plugin, see: [AI Assistant](../ai/). ### Revision History The TinyMCE 8.9.1 release includes an accompanying release of the **Revision History** premium plugin. **Revision History** includes the following fix. #### The `body_id` option was not applied to the Revision History preview iframe body Previously, the **Revision History** plugin applied the [`body_class`](../add-css-options/#body_class) option to the preview iframe body element but not the [`body_id`](../add-css-options/#body_id) option, so the preview did not render content consistently with the editor content. In TinyMCE 8.9.1, the **Revision History** plugin applies `body_id` to the preview body element, so styles that target that id now apply in the preview. For information on the **Revision History** plugin, see: [Revision History](../revisionhistory/). ### TinyMCE AI The TinyMCE 8.9.1 release includes an accompanying release of the **TinyMCE AI** premium plugin. **TinyMCE AI** includes the following fixes. #### The `body_class` and `body_id` options were not applied to the TinyMCE AI preview iframe body Previously, the **TinyMCE AI** plugin did not apply the [`body_class`](../add-css-options/#body_class) and [`body_id`](../add-css-options/#body_id) options to the preview iframe body element, so the preview did not render content consistently with the editor content. In TinyMCE 8.9.1, the **TinyMCE AI** plugin applies both options to the preview body element, adding the `body_class` value alongside the `mce-content-body` class rather than replacing it. #### Menus in the TinyMCE AI sidebars showed unnecessary scrollbars when the sidebar type was set to 'floating' Previously, menus opened from the **TinyMCE AI** sidebars showed unnecessary scrollbars. With the [`tinymceai_sidebar_type`](../tinymceai/#tinymceai_sidebar_type) option set to `'floating'`, the menu for adding context sources, the model selection dropdown, and the menu on a chat history item each showed a second vertical scrollbar or a horizontal scrollbar. This regression, introduced in TinyMCE 8.5, made those menus harder to read and to scroll. In TinyMCE 8.9.1, the **TinyMCE AI** plugin no longer applies its own overflow constraint to these menus, and sizes each menu to the space available to it rather than to the full width of its container. Menus in the Chat sidebar and the Review sidebar now show a single scrollbar, and only when the content does not fit. #### Styles from the `content_style` option did not take precedence over `content_css` in the preview iframe Previously, the **TinyMCE AI** plugin added the styles from the [`content_style`](../add-css-options/#content_style) option to the preview before the stylesheets loaded by the [`content_css`](../add-css-options/#content_css) option. The styles from both options carry equal specificity, so the `content_css` stylesheets overrode the `content_style` rules. In TinyMCE 8.9.1, the **TinyMCE AI** plugin adds the styles from `content_style` after the stylesheets loaded by `content_css`, matching the order that TinyMCE uses in the editor content. Styles from `content_style` now apply in the preview, so the preview renders consistently with the editor content.
